-« Photo »: »Cecil Dennis » is the man on the far right, he has flown back into Liberia, unfortunately a day before the coup- in 1980-(« Reminder of the facts »): a sergent called « Samuel Kanyon Doe »,27 -year-old took over in a bloody coup,through his so called redemption council!Unfortunately, the national joy in Liberia was short-lived from (1980 to 1990)!
-In 1980, the young sergent « Samuel Kanyon Doe » has presided over the public execution of members of the cabinet he has ovderthrown.He overthrew « William Tolbert » an afro american freed slave labeled as (« Kongo ») in « Liberia » since they have founded the land of freedom (Liberia) in West africa close to Ivory coast in (1847).He overhrew « William Tolbert » who ruled Liberia from (1971 to 1980) to become the Liberia’s first native president. »Tolbert » himself was shot while he slept either in bed or in his office.Moreover,most members of the cabinet were arrested and tried for different crimes.There are videos of the trial.
-At one point, the judge tells the defendants to keep it short.He then found them guilty and recommended their execution.The gruesome excution was televised.The ministers were marched through the streets as citizens lined up to jeer them.They were then taken to the puvlic beach in the capital city « Monrovia » where they were ordered to stand next to the installed posts and removed their shirts.The men are tied up upright to the posts.Soldiers then lined up to form a firing squad.
-After the first barrage of gunfire, only one man, called « Cecil Dennis » still stands.The others are dead with their bodies slumping on the posts.The soldiers shoot « Cecil Denis » with an uzi and a pistol.The firing squad continues firing, shooting the ministers at least 60 more times.
-Strangely « Samuel K Doe » called « Cecil Denis » to be brought to the executive mansion in « Monrovia » a fews days he had killed him.It is possible that Doe had never bothered to look at the list or recommendation.One anecdote is that the court recommended the excution of (3) men, but Doe either distracted or otherwise, ordered that they all be killed.In fact, the execution was delayed because there were not enough posts installed on the beach that day.4 men sat in the bus while the firdt (9) were being killed.
-One of the people who survived the purge was none othere but « Ellen Sirleaf », former president of Liberia.She was Tolbert’s minister of finance.She believed she survived because her mother had once given « Doe » and his men water to drink.
